30% Annual Energy Savings Through Comprehensive Campus Modernization
Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center, a 330,000-square-foot vocational campus, partnered with TEN through Pennsylvania’s GESA Program to deliver a comprehensive energy savings performance project. Since completion in October 2023, the project has achieved 30% annual energy savings while improving comfort, reliability, and long-term performance.
TEN also manages operations, maintenance, and performance verification for the 1.1-MW solar photovoltaic array installed as part of the project. The solar array is owned and operated by TEN’s parent company, DLH, under a separate power purchase agreement.

Services Performed
Lighting Upgrades
- Installed 3,300 high-efficiency LED fixtures
- Replaced ceiling tiles to support lighting and energy performance improvements
HVAC & Mechanical System Improvements
- Replaced six boilers and associated pumps
- Replaced two water heaters
- Replaced 18 rooftop HVAC units and 17 heating and ventilation units
Building Automation & Controls
- Upgraded building automation system controls
- Installed a new front-end workstation for improved system monitoring and management
Building Envelope & Thermal Efficiency
- Installed a new roof
- Replaced 300 windows
- Installed insulated garage doors to reduce thermal loss
Electrical Infrastructure & Low-Voltage Systems
- Upgraded all electrical panels
- Modernized low-voltage systems across the campus
Renewable Energy & Performance Management
- Installed a 1.1-MW solar photovoltaic array
- Provides ongoing operations, maintenance, and performance verification
Safety, Security & Facility Enhancements
- Enhanced campus security systems
- Converted the auditorium into a gymnastics studio to support evolving program needs
