Somerset Area School District partnered with TEN on a multi-phased, district-wide modernization effort to address aging infrastructure, reduce operating costs and emissions, and improve comfort and security across multiple schools. The project replaced coal-fired systems with high-efficiency natural gas infrastructure while advancing the District’s long-term sustainability goals.
Services Performed
Lighting Upgrades
- Upgraded district-wide LED lighting
HVAC & Mechanical System Improvements
- Replaced coal-fired systems with high-efficiency condensing natural gas boiler plants
- Installed new high-efficiency boiler plant at Eagle View Elementary School
- Replaced domestic hot water systems
Building Envelope & Thermal Efficiency
- Replaced roofs and windows at Somerset Area Middle School
- Completed metal roof restoration and retrofit at Eagle View Elementary School
- Installed roof-hugger framing system and new standing seam metal roof
- Added R-19 fiberglass insulation to existing roof panels
- Removed existing dormers and rerouted ventilation exhaust and intake systems
Electrical & Emergency Power Systems
- Installed a new emergency generator
Safety, Security & Access Control
- Replaced door access and control systems
Facility & Learning Environment Enhancements
- Completed a full auditorium renovation
- Upgraded auditorium audio-visual equipment
- Renovated the Family and Consumer Science room at the Junior/Senior High School
Program Planning & Future Modernization
- Completing design for a large GESA renovation including Eagle View and Maple Ridge Schools
